Senior Prom

My girlfriend (Zoe) and I went to the Senior Prom, which to add to the strange things Casco Bay High School does, it was themed "On a Boat!", which it was. Since we were also "feeding the machine" by going to this prom, we made our own modifications and broke a lot of the traditions. To begin with we both wore flip flops, Zoe made me a delicious boutonniere, and I wore me nicest clothes instead of renting a strange tux with even stranger stains.

There is something underling, weird, and sexual about our mascot, especially when it becomes a cafe....

Here is the second floor, with the Cougar Lounge. We hit some waves and the boat really rocked, I swear that chandelier went at a 45 degree angle.

The first floor had an actual professional dj, we did not have one last year, so a major improvement.

I slowly ate my boutonniere over the course of the night until it was gone....

The boat actually went out pretty far, I think we went around Cousins Island, but I am not entirely sure.

Since it was cold we would trade off between inside and outside. Although it was certainly worth the views. The lights would flicker as the engine changed speeds.

And we made it back alive and dry!

Getting ready for Prom

Mr. Donald and I got ready at Zoe's. Zoe gave me a chocolate egg and a boutonniere she made while I was shamefully empty handed.

It took an army to pin it on me. But in the end it was tasty, the entire boutonniere was edible.

After that we took off and went to the Eastern Prom for group photos and crazy moms.

When we got there for a moment I thought I was going to have some serious photos, but of coarse I like these way more. Oliver, Andy, and Donald thought they would squeeze into a picture of Emily and I.

Zoe and I got some nice photos as well.

Oliver and Andy joined Zoe and I once again.... this was moments before I barked at them.

Materials

I am not a materialistic person at all, but some materials are necessary to live a productive life. So I really admire the people that choose wisely about what they own. If you are capable with owning nice materials with style and modesty I am an automatic fan.

Here are some books. I think books are worth the money, and in the end are worth far more than we spend on them.

This is the trophy I gave to zoe, I played football in 5th grade and got the shit beaten out of me. I was the second lightest kid on the team for the first half of the season. Then the lightest kid got sick of being beaten up everyday, so long story short, I filled his spot.

Last, my favorite backyard in the whole world also now includes a stylish fire pit, it's verrrry nice. I have enjoyed fires there more than any other places I have had camp fires.

The Farmer's Market

Every Saturday framers get up, often at 3 a.m. or early to pack up and get to the market at around 7 or earlier. The result is a really fun market in Deering Oaks in Portland. I am a continual customer of the majority of farmers there. I have even worked for a couple of the farms.

A lot of artist sell work here too. Seedlings, meats, pickled goods, and music can always be expected to be found here.

But what really makes the Farmer's Market nice is the park. It was designed by this dead white guy named Frederwick Law Olmsted, who also happened to design Central Park. The park is called Deering Oaks because of its massive old oak trees. Here is Zoe and I in one that fell last winter.

I have a feeling this is one of the places I will miss when away.

And here is Zoe. She is very beautiful.

We had a really nice day.

Senior Final Word

is this project where you get no descriptor or grading.... it is just your final words as a high schooler and you really can say whatever you want. I had a fairly heavy piece I read, but it was nice to get things out there. Zoe gave me this rock (ironic I know, but extremely sweet) to hang onto during my entire speech.

So I really do love my high school, I have only gone to it for 2 years, but I can live with that, its sad I am graduating so soon. I do feel as well that I really need to get out of there, and it will, in the end, certainly be nice to move on. But as you can see below, its not really much of a normal high school.

In fact, its really mostly a funny high school. This is a mural that a school that we share the building with painted at least 15+ years ago. I call it the suicide mural, because most of the characters in it are trying to kill themselves or look like they have thoughts of doing so. A pretty dark mural for a place that is often dark in life. So, for example, here we have a young lady sticking a screw driver into the wall outlet! She is definitely on something....

Well as crazy and funny as high school was here is my AP Environmental Science class minus zoe and a few others. We had a lot of fun, and it was a fairly serious (traditional) class. It had to be, since its a class for a test. How unlike my school curriculum!

Sunshine

Getting in touch with the hippie side a little.... I suppose. I have been spending more and more time outside and it feels nice. As school winds down to an end I look forward with more and more anticipation of the luxury of free time outdoors.

You kind of get to catch a little piece of my school in the background. The semi-shitty building looked okay that day for some reason.

This is my brother after my "Senior Final Word" sort of speech earlier that day. He looks healthy, he kicked a soccer ball onto (and then over) the school. Mostly he's a nut, but he's not bad.

And here is my longest current friend of 3 years, Emily. She is in a rough spot now but I really do hope the best for her. Things are really starting to form up for next year college plans for the majority of seniors in my class. My plans are beginning to crystalize but are not very similar. I hope to stay in contact with Emily, she was the only person I knew when I switched to this school.

Last, here is the guys doing frisbee or whatever. It was a really freakin' nice day, about 72 degrees and not a cloud.

ILIKETOFU

Dry fried tofu, teriyaki sauce from scratch with some caramelized pieces of pineapple, yum. The next photo I took the other day, this is my backyard basically....

A Thursday like a Wednesday

The schedule is a little off this week, but since my brother (Oliver) and I live in 2 houses we move 2-3 times a week, which is occasionally a pain in the ass. We have to take a bunch of clothes, school work, paint, bikes, whatever.... and bring it three towns over in a tiny 93' Carolla. It is not as bad as it sounds though.

Today  Oliver (my brother) is went for his license and had some trouble, I think he was nerved up.

I must say yesterdays rain was pretty depressing but it seemed like it washed everything.

But now you have too look at what bloomed as result of all that rain! And check out my awesome garden, hopefully I will be in charge of more plants soon.

Animals

So I am going to be a little dorky and show you my animals....

My cat (sniffers) which I named when I was 6 by the way, is 2x the weight of my dog, he is Maine Coon and something else....

My dog, Mabel is 10lbs. to give you an idea....

And Margot, from yesterday, soon to be joined by lobster, as well as soon to move into her 10 gallon mansion:

I feel like a 5th grader showing off his pets!

Writing

Basically I was never great at writing until I was encouraged. So now I am trying. I wrote my final word today, I got a good solid last draft that I am polishing.

I took home a pet today, Margot, cannot find the other crab. I am looking for a better vase or bowl for Margot so this is her in her temporary apartment:

And here is some brussel sprouts I cooked last week:

So this is my calculus teacher with some of my friends, Zoe is to the right, this must have been taken right before crew...
